Preventing AI Hallucinations
When an AI makes up information or produces factually inaccurate writing, it's commonly called a hallucination. While this was a significant issue with earlier AI models, the modern models that Orbit Flows uses can be extremely accurate when used precisely.
The key is making sure they have access to proper information and clear instructions on how to use it:
Add proper sources: Think of Flows as an intelligent team member with incredibly broad general knowledge, but who doesn't know about recent facts, industry-specific details, or private information. Make sure to provide the necessary information through sources, just as you would brief a coworker. Consider what articles, webpages, or documents the AI needs to produce accurate content.
Request accuracy in instructions: All Orbit Flows templates include specific instructions about how AI should use sources and maintain accuracy. If you're building a custom template, make sure to include similar guidance. For instance, explicitly instruct Flows to ground all information in provided sources and never confabulate facts.
Provide clear feedback: If you notice a hallucination while drafting, use the "Revise with Feedback" button to tell Flows what it did wrong and what it should do instead. This feedback will be remembered going forward, helping tune the behavior to your needs.
Structure custom templates carefully: When creating custom templates, add a section called "Using Knowledge and Sources" that details what type of sources you expect to provide and how they should be used in the writing.
Monitor and adjust: If you notice accuracy issues, it usually means you need to tune things a bit more. Be sure to provide better instructions, add more comprehensive sources, or give specific feedback.
Remember: Preventing hallucinations is about giving Flows the right tools to succeed, like proper sources, clear instructions, and helpful feedback when needed. With these elements in place, you can consistently produce accurate, high-quality content.
